Battle of Waren-Nossentin
Waren (Müritz), Mecklenburg, Germany
What happened
After Jena, the French were chasing Blücher's Prussians north. French cavalry caught the Prussian rearguard leaving Waren and briefly captured some dragoons, but Prussian hussars freed them. Yorck then fell back through the woods toward Nossentin, and a French cavalry move got stuck in marshy ground.
Why it matters
The Prussian rearguard got away intact. That stood out, because the Prussians had done badly since Jena and Auerstedt.
What came next
The French kept chasing Blücher until he was cornered at Lübeck on 6 November.
Did you know?
Marshal Bernadotte was thrown from his horse during the cavalry moves.
