Battle of Rimito Kramp
Rimito Kramp, near Turku, Finland
What happened
A Swedish coastal squadron under Klas Hjelmstjerna fought Russian coastal forces under Selivanov Myakin. A Russian squadron had slipped past the Swedish blockade. Hjelmstjerna attacked at Rimito Kramp, but the Russians held a strong bay and contrary winds hurt Swedish gunnery. While he prepared a night attack, the Russians slipped away to Turku, where a later fight ended with no clear winner.
Why it matters
The Swedes forced the Russians back but could not destroy their coastal fleet. King Gustav IV Adolf himself oversaw the later fighting.
What came next
Fighting among the islands went on through the summer of 1808.
