Battle of Occhiobello
Occhiobello, Veneto, Italy
What happened
A Neapolitan army under Joachim Murat fought Austrian troops under Johann Frimont, with Johann Friedrich von Mohr defending the bridge. Murat tried to cross the Po River by the bridge at Occhiobello. Mohr's outnumbered infantry, backed by heavy guns, drove back the attacks. The next day the Austrians had been reinforced, many Neapolitan soldiers deserted, and Murat withdrew.
