Battle of La Suffel
Souffelweyersheim, near Strasbourg, France
What happened
During the Hundred Days, Rapp joined Napoleon and was sent to guard the border near Strasbourg. Ten days after Waterloo, where his corps had not fought, he met the Coalition army just north of Strasbourg and beat it.
Why it matters
It is described as the last French victory in a pitched battle of the Napoleonic Wars. It came after the war had already been decided at Waterloo.
What came next
French forces kept fighting near Paris for a few more days, at Rocquencourt and Issy, before Paris surrendered.
Did you know?
Rapp's corps took no part in Waterloo but fought a major battle only ten days later.
