Battle of Ezra Church

Why it matters
Why it matters: It was a Union victory, but Howard did not cut the railway that day. It was part of Sherman's effort to cut every railway into Atlanta.

Sherman kept trying for another month. The last railway was cut at Jonesborough on 31 August.
